Hands Across Middlesex Food Pantry
The Hands Food Pantry, under the
leadership of Chairperson Linda Cryer,
provides food to qualifying Middlesex
residents through the following
programs:
- Food Distribution at the Cryer Center on the second and
fourth Tuesdays of each month. Clients receive a
distribution of approximately 30 to 40 pounds of food
twice a month. Food items include canned and jarred non-
perishable vegetables, fruits, meats, soups, sauces, etc.
Dry items such as pasta, beans, rice crackers, snack items
are also included. Bead and fresh produce are distributed
as available. Each client receives an average of five
servings of fresh-frozen meat per distribution.
- After-School Feeding Program provides snacks and food
for a dinner meal to two area churches that provide an
after-school supervised tutoring program once or twice a
week.
- The Back-Pack-Buddies Program provides children in
Middlesex schools with six "child-friendly" meals each
Friday for the weekend. Currently there are 135 school
children in the Back-Pack-Buddies program.
- Support Programs address special needs populations . One
of the programs does a regular food distribution to elderly
residents who may not be able to get to the Cryer Center
on food distribution days. This program also provides snacks
during the school day for younger school children who do not
have snacks. It also provides toiletry items for distribution.
