Additional Services Provided by Hands
Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is provided to qualifying clients to assist with paying electric and fuel bills.
Each client can receive up to $200.00 during a 12 month period, paid directly to the electricity
and/or fuel provider.
Holiday Meals
Thanksgiving and Christmas meals are prepared by church volunteers and delivered to county
residents who otherwise would not have a holiday dinner.
In 2010 one hundred twenty-five (125) Thanksgiving meals were delivered. Christmas meals
totaled 150. In 2011, 160 Thanksgiving meals were prepared and delivered.
Christmas "Give-Away"
Donated Christmas trees, decorations, toys and other holiday items are displayed in a
"Christmas Store" at the old Furniture Barn at Cook's Corner and given away at no charge to
all shoppers.
Special Projects
Special "Give-Aways" are organized as items become available that are needed by Hands
clients and/or the general county population. In the past, these give-aways have included:
clothing items for school children; appliances for food pantry recipients; school supplies;
toiletry items; prom dresses and wheel chairs.
